Game Fishing
Where to
fish?
We send our the outer islands such as Denis, Bird, Desroches, Poivre and
Alphonse. These islands are near to the continental shalf drop-offs and are a mecca
for the large, fighting fish. Game fishing is also possible around the inner
islands of Mahe, Praslin and La Digue.
What fish could we catch?
Bonito, Tuna, Wahoo ( King Fish), Barraccuda, Dorade, Blue Marlin and Sailfish.
Do we have to live onboard?
No, because you have the choice of either a half or full day charter or a
live-aboard charter. By staying on one of the outer islands you are within a
few minutes of very productive fishing grounds. Your fishing can be arranged by
Seychelles Travel before you arrive in the Seychelles, ensuring availability of
the boat.
Alternatively we arrange live-aboard charters for fishing trips for up to seven
days and a maximum of 6 people. Please call for more information.
What is the general layout of a Game
Fishing boat?
All the boats used by Seychelles Travel are fully licenced by the
Seychelles authorities and comply with international safety regulations. The
majority of boats have a minimum of 4 rods, 2 fighting chairs and out-riggers
for marlin, managed by an experienced skipper and crew member.
Generally a half
or full day charter includes plenty of fishing, soft drinks, lunch and your
choice of catch by agreement with the skipper. Most boats have sun canopies to
afford protection. In the interest of economy, the cost of the charter may be
shared between clients. Talk to Seychelles Travel about this.
When is the best time to go?
Seychelles is an all-year round game fishing location. Between June and
September the seas can become quite rough, so the limitation is generally the
effects of sea-sickness rather than lack of fish.
How much does it cost?
As a guide, £300/400 for half day charter, £700/900 for full day charter.
